Joash Schulman

Virginia Beach Councilman, District 9

Joash Schulman is a real estate and business attorney, serves as the managing partner of Town Center Office Suites, and serves on the Virginia Beach City Council. He and his wife have been residents of Virginia Beach since 2007 and they reside with their three young daughters in the city’s Thoroughgood neighborhood. Mr. Schulman is passionate about economic development and strategic growth initiatives, our public school system, and coastal resiliency, flooding, and environmental issues.  He serves as Chair of the Virginia Beach Wetlands Board, Vice President of Virginia Beach Vision, and Secretary of the Central Business District Association of Virginia Beach (CBDA).  He is a Regional Board Member of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce and serves as a board member of Lynnhaven River Now and the Neptune Festival Foundation. Mr. Schulman is a 2022 graduate of the Civic Executive Leadership Institute, and a past-President of the CBDX, the 40-and-under young professionals’ division of the CBDA.  He also was a member of the Envision 2020 Regional Branding Task Force, co-founder of 757 Proud, a regional pride building initiative, and was previously the Vice Chair of the VB 2040 Vision to Action Community Coalition.  Joash was the youngest ever recipient of the CBDA’s President’s Award in 2016 and was named among the “Top-40-Under-40” by Inside Business in 2015.
